SAUTI ŠÁ & The Wild Embers

Join us for a cozy evening soaking in soulful sounds from Zanzibar, the Midwest, and many places in between.

SAUTI ŠÁ is a Cleveland-based, trans-African band led by songwriters Matiga Koba and Nehemiah Stark. We play freedom songs to dance to, inspired by heroes like Boubacar Traoré, Ali Farka Touré, Fela Kuti, Tinariwen, Fatoumata Diawara, and Lakota singers. Among many languages, English and Swahili harmonies soar on top of traditional hypnotic guitar styles and percussion.

The Wild Embers is a musical collective based in Kent, Ohio, led by Chelsea Blackerby’s haunting vocals.  The group is known for its fairytale lyrics, rich harmonies, and interlocking layers of strings and percussion. The Embers are influenced by folk, avant garde, and polyphonic classical music, and they perform regularly throughout the region.
